As part of the Bilton Club Summer Sessions, Ted Key & VIPs bring a special outdoor performance of London 0 Hull 4 to celebrate the album’s 40th anniversary - performed by original The Housemartins songwriter and bass player, Ted Key.
Ted Key was there at the very beginning of The Housemartins’ story - playing with the band when they signed their record deal, released their first single, and recorded their first legendary John Peel session. Four decades on, he reunites with The VIPs to bring this iconic album back to life in a live setting packed with authenticity, nostalgia and energy.
Performed in full on our outdoor stage, expect timeless indie classics including “Happy Hour”, “Flag Day”, “Think For A Minute” and “Lean On Me” — songs that helped define British indie music in the 1980s and still sound as fresh and uplifting today as they did on release.
The band recently appeared on BBC Radio Humberside performing “Sheep” and “Happy Hour” live, earning a fantastic response from fans old and new. Combining jangly guitars, rich harmonies, northern wit and unforgettable singalong moments, London 0 Hull 40 is more than just a gig — it’s a celebration of one of Britain’s most loved indie records.
This isn’t just a nostalgic night of indie classics - it’s a chance to experience these songs performed by someone who was there at the very beginning. Fans of The Housemartins, indie pop, folk-rock and classic British songwriting can expect a summer evening packed with singalongs, atmosphere and unforgettable live music.
Set within the relaxed open-air setting of our Summer Sessions series, expect great drinks, a lively crowd and one of the standout outdoor gigs of the summer in Harrogate.
Gates open at 4:00pm.

Please note: this event is planned as an outdoor Summer Sessions show. In the event of unsuitable weather, the performance will be moved indoors to the Concert Room.
